Possible side effects of hyperthermia with the Celsius TCS hyperthermia system
In contrast to surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, hyperthermia has almost no side effects.
In some cases, patients who have tumours in the direct vicinity of hip or knee replacements are difficult to treat as the metals can heat up excessively under electro-hyperthermia. Tumour position, region and power output of the loco-regional deep hyperthermia must then be estimated and adjusted accordingly.
Patients with a disrupted perception of temperature (for example following a stroke) must be observed constantly during treatment. The hyperthermia area must be monitored continuously throughout the procedure (i.e. to avoid sweat accumulation; sweat can heat up excessively and result in blisters on the skin).
Cardiac pacemakers and other pacemaker electrodes, since it is not possible to guarantee that the electronics of the pacemaker will not be destroyed, resulting in malfunctions.
